Welcome to the UPenn Human Sexuality and Well-Being Project!
Based at the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania, this multi-institutional initiative is dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of the connection between human sexuality and well-being. We aim to explore what sexual well-being means to individuals, how it contributes to overall health and happiness, and how it can be measured and enhanced.
The long-term potential of this work lies in informing the development of evidence-based interventions and support strategies for individuals recovering from cancer treatment, couples experiencing functional challenges or marital difficulties, aging populations, and others seeking to improve their relationships and overall quality of life.

We also examine the expression of needs and boundaries from a place of empowerment, love, and respect, aiming to foster healthier and more fulfilling relationships. By conducting original research and synthesizing the scientific literature, we strive to advance evidence-based approaches that promote lasting, meaningful connections and reduce stigma around sexuality.
We are committed to fostering open dialogue, reducing taboos, and contributing to the understanding of how sexuality enhances overall well-being.
