Senior Research Specialist

Ari is the Senior Research Specialist for the University of Pennsylvania’s project on sexuality and well-being. He wrote the chapter on treating compulsive sexual behavior in Positive Sexuality: A Promising Future for Sex Research, Education, and Practice (edited by Emily Prior and DJ Williams, 2025), and he contributed an essay to the latest edition of Love in Abundance: A Counselor’s Guide to Open Relationships (by Kathy Labriola, 2024). In addition to his work in sexual well-being, Ari provides psychotherapy at NYC’s Sexuality, Attachment, and Trauma Project (www.satproject.com) and through his own practice, Ari Lewis Therapy (www.arilewistherapy.com). He earned a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at the University of Pennsylvania with his focus on positive sexuality and, at Columbia University, he earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Psychological Counseling, a Master of Education (EdM) in Mental Health Counseling, and an Advanced Certificate in Sexuality, Women, and Gender with his focus on Consensual Non-Monogamy. He holds his License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) through the state of New York.
