🌱 About Our Work

Sexuality is a central part of being human. It can be a source of joy, love, intimacy, curiosity, and personal growth—and how we relate to it can deeply shape our well-being.

Surprisingly, though, scientific research on well-being has often overlooked this domain–albeit with some notable exceptions. Most research on sexuality still focuses on what goes wrong: risks, trauma, dysfunction. These are critical to understand and address—but they’re not the whole story.

What about what can go right?

  • What makes sexuality feel meaningful, empowering, and alive?
  • How and under what conditions can it contribute to emotional intimacy, health, and human flourishing?
  • How does sexual well-being interact with other life domains?

That’s the focus of our work. We explore not just sexual behavior, but the broader relationship people have with their sexuality—across various life stages and experiences. Whether someone is sexually active, celibate, healing, or simply curious, their relationship with this part of life matters.

This work also has implications for health and clinical care. Sexuality can remain meaningful throughout life—including for those navigating illness, disability, trauma, or transitions like aging, chronic pain, or cancer treatment. Supporting sexual well-being in these contexts can foster dignity, connection, and agency.

We’re currently developing a comprehensive Sexual Well-Being Model and Scale, which can be applied in research, coaching, and clinical practice. We use a highly rigorous scientific process, considering empirical data, people’s lived experiences, and established theories. To do so, we have assembled an international team of leading experts in psychology, public health, sexology, neuroscience, and clinical therapy.

We’re investigating:

  • What helps people feel whole, safe, and alive in this domain?
  • What supports a grounded and fulfilling connection to sexuality?
  • How do people differ in what they value?

We believe that sexuality deserves to be studied with the same richness and respect as other aspects of human well-being. Stay tuned—we’re excited to share what we’re learning and invite you to be part of the conversation.
